Left Out
After a big wave of protests and self immolations across China for the independence of Tibet, the international interest for the issue faded away and little attention has been given to the communities that live outside the Tibetan region.
This story aims to explore the life and culture of a Tibetan community living in the Chinese region of Sichuan, in the valleys right across the Tibetan border.
The locals fight to maintain their traditions that are often contested by the Chinese authority, such as the rarely documented ritual of the Sky Burial, according to which after dead a body is chopped and given to the vultures that populate the hills in the area.
